What to expect at the initial meeting with your attorney.

Finding Peace In The Chaos

What to expect at the initial meeting with your attorney.

Many people are nervous when they meet with an attorney the first time. The experience is foreign to you and you, hopefully, don’t need to talk to an attorney often. You are not alone. More than likely when you are looking to talk to an attorney something is not going right in your world. You don’t know who to talk to or call or what to expect when you go to that first meeting. While I can’t say what other firms do, I can tell you what you will experience when you come to talk to us at Boswell Law Firm.

PROCESS

  • 1: Greeting.
  • 2: Prior Paperwork- if you did not complete the paperwork prior to your appointment you can complete it on the reception area computer set aside for this reason.
  • 3: Once the paperwork is complete, the attorney will greet you in the conference room.
  • 4: You will learn a little about the attorney and the firm.
  • 5: Next the attorney will ask about you and why you are here. The attorney will be taking notes on a computer or an iPad. This will be a conversation where you will tell your story and the attorney will ask questions to make sure they understand your unique situation. Once you have shared your situation the attorney will provide you with a legal analysis of your case. This analysis is completely dependent on the thoroughness of the information you provide, so tell us everything, the good, the bad and the neutral.
  • 6: Then you will be able to ask questions about your rights.
  • 7: Your unique case flow and cost breakdown discussion

Cost Breakdown:

We charge tiered flat rates at Boswell Law Firm. That means we do not charge hourly for the work we do for you. The cost of each case is unique because not everybody’s case is the same. You can ask questions about the process and payments and we can discuss payment options.

To Retain or Not to Retain:

If you decide to hire us, you will then meet with a staff member to complete paperwork and get your homework assignment and any referrals you may need for other services. If you want to think about hiring us, that is fine as well. We will set up a time to follow up with you and provide you with any referrals you may need.

I hope this makes that first meeting with us a little less daunting. We hope to see you soon.
